There are plenty of tributes across the blogosphere. The people at Hot Air; Greyhawk, Argghhh!, and Blackfive have a series of posts, to name a few.

One place you won't find a tribute though is at Google. They change their logo for all kinds of holidays. Here is their logo for today.


Jonah Goldberg pointed this out in the Corner, "It's kind of sad. They change their homepage logo for all sorts of holidays and occasions. Just last week they paid tribute to Arthur Conan Doyle's birthday. But Memorial Day doesn't seem to rate anything at all." A reader notices that they have never changed their logo on Memorial Day.

I was happy to discover a radio show I used to enjoy listening to is now podcasting. The Warp Zone used to be broadcast on KFH in Wichita, Kansas. As they say, it is "Your Source for Science Fiction and Fantasy Entertainment". A few years ago, it was taken off the air for mystifying reasons. For a while, the crew would continue the show and put MP3s on their site. This was before the word podcasting had been coined and was wide spread.

Now they have returned to podcasting. According to their site, they returned last November. However, I didn't luck upon them until about six weeks ago. If you are a fan of science fiction, check out their podcast.

The citizens of New Orleans have decided to reward the incompetence of Ray 'School Bus' Nagin by re-electing him to be mayor. Paul at Wizbang predicted this back in April, "Misunderstanding the New Orleans Vote - And Why Whites Will Re-Elect Ray Nagin". Granted neither choice was very appealing, Nagin shouldn't have made it through the primary, but in the end screwing-up is rewarded. Hopefully Nagin might have learned something and will do better this time around. Can't really do any worse.

Because of the global war on terrorism, many terrorist organizations have had their finances frozen. Consequently, they have resorted to counterfeiting. The Canadians have decided to redesign their currency to prevent the radical Islamists from even touching it! It is also hoped that this will have a positive effect on tourism:

From today's Out There segment on Fox News.com comes a tale of true love. Young whipper-snapper Muhamad Noor Che Musa, 33, married Wook Kundor, age 104. Don't expect a repeat of the Anna Nicole trial. Muhamad says, "I am not after her money, as she is poor." No, it was "mutual respect and friendship" that "turned to love". Fox was kind enough to include a photo.

Satire from Point Five. A special showing of United 93 was held for members of the ACLU, Code Pink, International ANSWER, and selected Democrats and the ending came as a surprise for them.

“I didn’t see it coming,” said one young woman with Code Pink. “I was sure the passengers would somehow get the plane down safely.”

“It was devastating,” said an attorney with the ACLU. “Can you imagine if something like that really happened? I’m glad it was just a movie.”

My surprise is the choice of villans by the director. I thought for sure Hollywood would change them into neo-National Socialists, ala The Sum of All Fears.

The Strategy Page breaks down why Al Qaeda has lost in Iraq. They cite three mistakes: they fought the last information war, they underestimated the American leadership, and they also managed to anger the Iraqi people. New media has played an important part in this battle. No longer is someone like Uncle Walty able to turn a military victory into a political defeat. Oh they can, and still do, try, but they don't have a dominance over news and other media are getting the word out. "The media created a false picture after the 1968 Tet Offensive, but was unable to do the same in Iraq." The American fifth column doesn't have to be feared anymore.
